One of the easiest ways to start preserving our natural resources is to grow a living wall. It can be done virtually anywhere and enables you to provide oxygen for the world that we live in. You can even build a living wall inside of your home if you want. When planted indoors; it takes the shape of living artwork and may be framed like a photo that you would have hung up on the walls. It is ideal in homes where there may not be a lot of space for planters to be scattered around.
Creating a Wall
When you have a living wall, it is important that you consider the lighting you have available to it. Natural lighting is a must so that they can produce their own chlorophyll. As a bonus, the more natural light you have in that area of your home, the more types of plants you can put on your wall. A darker room may only have certain plants that require very little sunlight. If you choose to plant the wall outdoors, you really only have to think about plants that thrive in your climate zone. In kitchens, you can also turn the living wall into a herb-filled garden.
Enjoy Your Wall!
These walls can be beautiful and most require very little maintenance. You should water your plants and take note if they start to appear browner in color. A brownish color could mean that you do not have enough light or water on them. Artificial lighting can be added when necessary and you may want to consider watering more often. In some cases, you may also want to use a natural fertilizer or plant food on them to help them grow.
